That’s why every piece is made with surgical-grade stainless steel and finished with PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) plating—an advanced, high-performance coating process that enhances durability and appearance. 10k-22k gold is available upon request.

What is Surgical-Grade Stainless Steel?

Surgical-grade stainless steel, also known as 316L stainless steel, is a high-quality metal recognized for its strength, purity, and resilience. As the name suggests, it's the same material commonly used in medical instruments, implants, and surgical tools due to its non-reactive, biocompatible, and corrosion-resistant properties.

This steel is hypoallergenic, making it ideal for sensitive skin, and it doesn’t contain the nickel levels often found in cheaper metals that can cause irritation or allergic reactions.

PVD Gold Plating: A Superior Finish

To achieve our signature gold tones, we use PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) plating—a modern, environmentally friendly method that bonds gold particles to the steel at a molecular level. This process results in a finish that is significantly more resistant to fading, tarnishing, and scratching than traditional electroplating.

Sustainable by Design

Our jewelry is made from 316L surgical-grade stainless steel — a metal that’s 100% recyclable, incredibly durable, and designed to be worn for a lifetime. By choosing stainless steel, we reduce waste from disposable, tarnish-prone jewelry and offer a sustainable alternative that’s gentle on your skin and the planet.

Stainless steel is 100% recyclable without losing quality. Unlike gold plating over brass or copper (which usually ends up as waste), stainless steel can be melted down and reused endlessly.

Why We Don't Use Brass, Copper, Zinc, or Alloys

Many costume jewelry brands rely on metals like brass, copper, zinc, or mixed alloys, which are inexpensive but prone to oxidation, tarnish, green staining, and skin irritation over time. These metals also tend to break down faster, especially when exposed to water, sweat, or air.

In contrast, our surgical-grade stainless steel pieces are:

Our Warranty

We proudly stand behind the quality and craftsmanship of KRWND jewelry. All of our pieces come with a 2-year warranty that covers fading or discolouration of the plating under normal wear.

If your jewelry fades within two years of purchase, we will happily offer a free replacement.

Please Note:

While our PVD plating is one of the most durable and advanced in the industry, it is important to understand that all gold-plated jewelry will gradually lose some shine and luster over time, especially with daily wear, exposure to friction, or harsh chemicals.

The only type of gold that will never fade is solid gold (10k–22k), which is available upon request for custom orders.

Jewelry Care

We stand behind the quality of every KRWND piece, but it’s important to remember that all jewelry is delicate and requires proper care to maintain its beauty over time.

Each order comes with a polishing cloth and care instructions to help extend the life of your piece. Follow these key tips:

Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Keep jewelry away from chlorine, salt water, lotions, and perfumes. Our pieces are water-resistant and safe to shower in, but always pat dry thoroughly after getting them wet instead of air dry.
Store Mindfully: When not in use, store your piece in the original pouch or a jewel box to prevent surface damage and tangling.
Clean Regularly: Use the included polishing cloth to wipe down your jewelry and remove skin oils or acidity, which can cause fading or buildup. If green residue appears around the ear pin, follow our DIY cleaning guide included with your order.

Our jewelry is made to last 1–3 years before needing re-polishing or re-plating. However, everyone's skin chemistry is different—those with higher skin acidity may experience quicker fading of plated finishes.

Treat your jewelry with care, and it will reward you with lasting shine and wearability.

Refunds & Returns

Custom pieces are final sale and non-refundable, as each design is approved before production and made just for you. However, if you’re unhappy with a custom item, you may return it for store credit.

Refunds are only issued if:

You receive a damaged or defective item
You receive the wrong order
Your item is lost in transit and cannot be recovered by the shipping carrier

Custom Jewelry Production Timeline

All custom jewelry is handmade to order abroad and crafted specifically for you. Because of the personalized nature of these pieces, custom orders are not eligible for refunds unless the item arrives damaged or incorrect.

Please allow an average of 2-4 weeks for production, which includes both the time it takes to create your piece and for us to receive it from our production team overseas.

Note: The 2-4 week timeline is for production only and does not include shipping to your address. Shipping times are calculated at checkout based on your location.

Important Notes

The 2-4 week turnaround is based on a smooth production process with no delays. While we aim to stay within this window, extended timelines may occur due to high order volumes or unforeseen production challenges.
Orders that exceed the 4-week timeline are not eligible for refunds.
If you wish to cancel a custom order, we can offer store credit or allow you to exchange it for in-stock items of equal value.
We do not offer rushed production. The multi-step nature of custom jewelry creation cannot be expedited without risking the integrity and quality of the piece.

KRWND is not a mass production brand. We are a small, bespoke, virtual jewelry studio—each custom piece is made from scratch to your specifications.

Shipping is available to CANADA, US, EUROPE. Comes with insurance and tracking. Transit times are as follows: 3-5 days withing Canada. 5-7days to the US. 7-10+ days everywhere else. For shipping elsewhere, please email info@iamkrwnd.com to inquire.

Pick up option is available at checkout for local orders (Toronto).
